To go along with my knitting obsession, I have become VERY interested in dyeing and spinning my own yarn. To spin, I am going to need to take a class and get a spindle.. at least to start. Right now, I can’t find anyone to take the class with me and my puppy needs to go to Puppy Preschool, so I am not going to able to do what I need to do to get to spinning…

As for dyeing, I am already there! So far, I’ve dyed one multi-color skein I am calling “Summer Vacation” as well as two skeins for a shrug pattern I have that I will be doing in brown and green. The green reminds me of fresh cut grass, and the brown will have areas of dark chocolate and a splash of the green and I am calling it “Thin Mint”.
The shrug pattern is quite cute.
Where you see blue in the picture, I will use my tonal green. Where the magenta is in the picture, I will be using my brown with hints of green.
Stay tuned for the finished project!

… just me, a set of knitting needles, and a ball of yarn. Sitting in front of the computer screen, furiously flailing fingers in an attempt to self-educate and learn to create the beautiful things I have seen other fiber queens render.
Now, I know a bit more.. I am no expert by any means. I’m still very much a beginner in many aspects. At this point, I have tryed quite a few knitting techniques (but have hundreds left to conquer) as well as learned to dye and skein my own yarn.
I started out on straight needles with acrylic yarn, knitting flat only. Then I discovered the ease and glory that is circular knitting.. Now, I can’t stand to wrap anything but 100% natural fiber around my fingers and needles, and I’ve graduated from scarves and stuffies to fashionable sweaters, skirts, and other accesories that if I saw them at a store would RUN to buy them… and I can make this little lovelies with my own two hands.. How cool is that?!?
So as I have another blog, which will for now remain nameless, that caters to the other big area of my life.. I thought it was suitable to create one just for my love of knitting, yarn, and fibre arts in general!
